How Your Book Comes to Life
You bring the story. I bring over forty years of craft. Together, we build something neither of us could make alone.
The Author Interview
Before we agree to work together, I offer you the opportunity to answer a series of carefully developed questions - a deep creative exploration designed to surface your voice, your message, and the heart of your story. From your answers, I write a complimentary sample introduction and working outline, bringing the vision of your book to life on the page for the very first time. This is your chance to interview me and my skills, just as I am getting to know you and your story. No commitment. No pressure. Just your book, alive in front of you.
The Writing
Once we decide to work together, we write - weekly sessions over several months. You bring your stories, your insight, your voice. I shape the structure, sharpen the message, and make sure every chapter earns the next one. We go back and forth, like a tennis match with the manuscript, until what is on the page sounds unmistakably like you.
The Finished Manuscript
The final manuscript is proofread, refined, and polished - every chapter earning its place, every sentence sounding like you. What you receive is a complete work, ready for publication through any path you choose.
Ready to publish? We also offer full self-publishing support - interior design, formatting, cover coordination, and step-by-step guidance through publication. Many of my clients choose to continue working together through this stage.

Every book begins with a story worth telling
Whether you are reflecting on a life well-lived, distilling years of hard-won wisdom, or giving shape to an idea that keeps you up at night, the first question is always the same: what kind of book wants to be written?
Memoir
Your life has chapters that other people need to read. A memoir captures the experiences, turning points, and quiet revelations that shaped who you are, written so that readers see their own journey reflected in yours.

Meet David
Books gave me a second chance at life. While visiting the ancient ruins at Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, I was struck by a rockfall to the head. The recovery was long and uncertain, and it changed the course of everything. It led me to write my first two books, Footsteps After the Fall and Dancing with Energy Vampires, and it set me on a path to help bring other people’s stories to life.
I believe that when people are struggling in life and trying to figure things out, they will go to a book first, before they go to an actual person. They read books to help them make sense of life, to find answers, to feel less alone in whatever they are facing. In my world, I help people write books for the readers who are searching for those answers. We position your book as the answer to their problem.
Mentored by Sharon Lechter, Tony Robbins, and Bob Proctor. Featured across ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, NPR, the United Nations, and dozens of podcasts and live stages worldwide.
If you have a book inside you, I would like to hear about it.
I take a person’s story and make it the reader’s story.

What Clients Say
Notes from authors whose books David helped shape, clarify, and bring into the world.
There is no doubt that this book would not have been possible without the help of my mentor, coach, and good friend David Strauss. This project has gone through so many evolutions writing back and forth, forming the ideas into the one coherent structure that you find here. Throughout the journey, we met for countless coffee meetings and weekly phone calls. Each time David and I talked, incredible ideas would come up that we'd have to add to the book immediately, and others David would just drop little nuggets of gold for which I could build ideas off.
David has this gift of bringing clarity to what you're trying to say, helping you form a concrete understanding of the thoughts that are scattered around in your mind. I can't thank him enough for not only his support and time but also his believing in me and this project through the months that we worked back and forth to bring it to fruition. The fact that this book was created from us meeting by happenstance that day at Restore just goes to show how powerful putting yourself in the right places can be.
And I want to mention that if you've ever thought about writing a book, I've left David's contact links below so you can get in touch with him. Talking with him, he'll be able to run you through the process of writing to publishing and help you get clarity around the simplicity of the process.
Thank you so much for all that you have given to this project and all the amazing ideas you have shared that have shaped me. Thank you for guiding me through this process of learning more about myself and refining my character and my beliefs so that I can go into this next chapter of my life with confidence, clarity, and passion.
Your patience as I navigated writing my first book is deeply appreciated. Your highlights, rewrites, additions, tweaks, and title suggestions were essential. Without you, this book would not be in the hands of readers everywhere.
First and foremost, I want to thank my writing coach, David Strauss. David, your guidance, patience, and expertise have been invaluable. You saw the vision and potential of this book and helped me to bring it to life in a way that I could never have done on my own.
To coach David Strauss, thank you for leading me through the process of writing this book from start to finish. Simply pulling the story out of me was a major hurdle, that you found a way. And thank you for bringing structure to the story, and for your ideas and suggestions that added to the book. Thanks also for keeping me on track and focused, well, way more than anybody else. How you ever did it will always be a mystery to me. I am so grateful for your support during the difficult periods I went through in writing this book. And, perhaps most of all, thank you for never quitting on me.
David Strauss, editor and book coach. When Sharon Lechter, co-author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, challenged me to write this book because the world needs to hear your story, it was the same day she connected us, saying, "You need to talk to David." I am so glad I did. We have come a long way since that first meeting in Greg's basement, and I am deeply grateful for your guidance every step of the way.
A special thank you to my editor, David Lloyd Strauss. Thank you for your encouragement, your support, and your steady guidance. You reminded me that pouring into others is not only okay - it is necessary, it is meaningful, and it is part of my purpose. Your words pushed me to keep giving, keep showing up, and keep sharing my light. I am grateful for you.
David Lloyd Strauss - You are such a great coach and teacher. I loved your editing style for three main reasons: your vocabulary is exemplary, yet you use analogies to get your points across; you are assertive and get things done but remain kind; and lastly, you exude compassion and strength! Keep being you, David. You are the best investment an author could make for help through every phase of book development and publishing advice.
David Lloyd Strauss, it was recently that I met you. I have Avry to thank for that. Since we first met, you have been nothing but respectful and professional. You instantly helped me take many steps toward my dreams. You aided and continue to support my journey with encouragement and knowledge about the world of writing and authorship. You taught me many lessons and reminded me of things I previously knew but desperately needed to hear again. You took me from someone scared, uncertain, and unconfident to an individual of wisdom, certainty, and confidence. I have many thanks that I owe to you, and for your help, I am forever in your debt. Thank you for your guidance, David, and I look forward to our future of working together even further.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to David Lloyd Strauss, the editor who helped me publish this book. From the very beginning, he recognized that the content within these pages is more than information. It is a gift to children and families, especially those navigating the unique journey of raising a child with special needs.
David Lloyd Strauss - None of this would have been possible without your unbelievable gift of writing and abstract thinking. With every pivot and turn this book has taken, I have always been amazed by your resilience, your spectacular talent, and your positivity, which turn the words you write into a masterpiece. You are truly an artist, truly a leader, and truly an inspirational model for anyone who has ever encountered trial. It is spectacular how our miraculous life stories have aligned in such a harmonious way.
To anyone reading this, if you have not yet read any of David's other books, please do yourself a favor and pursue the inevitable enlightenment, motivation, and inspiration you will find in their pages.
I would certainly be remiss if I did not start by acknowledging my writing coach, David Lloyd Strauss. David is encouraging, disciplined, and a talented storyteller. He was instrumental in bringing my stories to life, encouraging me to include engaging comparative analogies that help readers see themselves in similar situations or conundrums.
Without David, my book would not have nearly the life force that I hope you feel in the final manuscript. Thank you, David, for all you do to help others share their legacies and insights. You can find him at DavidStrauss.com.
Thank you to David Lloyd Strauss, who grew up in Telluride with my daughters, without whom I never would have completed this tale of some of Telluride's shady past! David helped bring my words and ideas to life with his creative insights. David coins himself a wordsmith and is an incredible editor, writer, and author coach known throughout the world. davidstrauss.com
